ASSIGNEMENT 01

1. Express the following linear equations in the form of ax+by+c=0 and write the value of a, b and c.

i)                2x+3y=9.35

ii)             Y-2=0

iii)         3x+2=0

iv)         5=2x

2. Write four solutions of the following \

i)                3.14x +y = 9

ii)             X=4y

3. Check whether the points ( 2,0) , (4,0) ( 2,-4) ( 1,1) a re solutions of x-2y=4 or not

4. Find the value of k if x=2 , y= 1 is a solution of equation 2x+3y=k

5. If 2x+ky = 10 intersects y- axis at (0,2) find the value of k

6. Draw the graph of x-2y =4

7. Draw the graph of the equation 3x-4y=12 . Also find the co-ordinates of the points where the graph cuts x-axis.

8. Draw the graph of the equation 3x +4y =7 and 3x-2y=1 and find the point of intersection of lines representing the equations.

9. The ratio of price of coffee to that of tea is 8:1 . Draw the graph if the price of coffee is Rs. 24 per 100 grams. Find the cost of 100 grams of tea from the graph.

10.                 The present age of girl is two fifth the age of her father. Express above as linear equation in two variable . Also find                                            i) The age of girl when father is 40 years

ii)             The age of father when girl is 22 years

11.                 Find equation of line passing through ( -1,3) and

i)                Parallel to x-axis

ii)             Parallel to y-axis

iii)         Neither parallel to x-axis nor to y-axis

12.                 How many solutions of the equation 5x+3 = 3x+7 are on the      a) Number line     b) Cartesian plane. Write three solution of the equation in Cartesian plane.

13.                 In countries like U.S.A and Canada temperature is measured in Fahrenheit , Whereas  in India it is measured in Celsius.  Here is a linear equation .This convert Fahrenheit to Celsius 

  F=(9/5) c + 32

i)                Draw the graph of the equation using Celsius as x-axis and Fahrenheit as y-axis

ii)             If temperature is 95 F, What is temperature in Celsius

iii)         If temperature is 30 c , What is the temperature in Fahrenheit ?

iv)         Is there a temperature which is numerical the same in both , if yes find that

14.                 The taxi fare in a city for first kilometer is Rs. 8 and for the subsequent distance it is Rs. 5 /km .Write linear equation for this and draw graph.

15.                 Draw the graph of the linear equation

i)                3x+ 5y = 15

ii)             (x-2)/3  = y-3
